First project meeting took place in Valmiera, Latvia 05. – 09. December 2012. 

Aim of the meeting – to plan and coordinate project activities and to get to know each other better.

In the meeting participated 16 people from all 6 partner organizations.

Agenda of the meeting.

The first project meeting of the “Common Stories of Europe” Project on the frame of Life Long Learning Program – Grundtvig PAR, took place in Valmiera, Latvia , from 5 to 9 December 2012 . The participants from 6 European Countries – Vidzemes kultūras un mākslas biedrība “Haritas” ,Latvia – which was the hosted country; Orka Consulting-Lodz, Poland; CITRIN – sdružení pro osobní rozvoj, o. s. , Check Republic; Librotondo Soc. Coop ONLUS, Italy; Associação Empresarial de Paços de Ferreira, Portugal and Romanian team.

The team from the Center of Culture and Art “George Topirceanu” have met for the first time their partners in order to know each other and learn together to use Storytelling non-formal method. The aim for this collaboration was the same for all of us – to make a better understanding between seniors and young people, to learn from each other experiences, to gain new knowledge and skills, to learn to speak and listen.

On 5 December 2012, Romanian team arrived to Valmiera where they were accommodated.

On 6 December 2012, Romanian team met their partners belonging Latvian organization; together they shared experience regarding Grundtvig PAR Projects and discussed about their activities; the host organization presented Romanian partners their organization, their city and neighborhoods.

On 7 December 2012 a working session was started at 9 o’clock in the morning; the working session was opened by the City Council Vice president of Valmniera and also Valmiera Culture Centre directress Vaira Dundure. At this working session was invited Mr. Linards Deidulis from the National Agency of Latvia. He gave the information about Grundtiv Learning Partnership Programme. Dr. Guntis Pakalns from Archives of Latvian Folklore, Institute from Latvian Folklore and Art at University at Latvia presented information about Storytelling movement in Europe and Latvia. The presentation of the project “Story Library” was made by Svetlana Spruza from Valmiera Integrated Library. A performance of storytelling was realized by a storyteller – young surnamed “King of Storytellers”. Each project partner team presented their organization and their country also. The last part of the session was about the planned future activities, coordination of activities and implementing measures. The evening ended with a visit to “Valmiermuizas alus” where stories about that place, the bravery history, nowadays and about the beer were told.

On 8 December 2012 a study trip was organized to the historical town Cesis, the neighbor city of Valmiera. A lot of stories about the old town were told – both outside and in the new castle seminar room. Also, the guides shared their experience regarding storytelling workshops. Returning to the hotel, an intercultural evening was organized and the participants shared traditional food, spoke about their traditions and customs.

On 9 December each team went home.
