From 5 to 9 March 2014 will be held in Italy (Genoa), the next meeting of the project Common Stories of Europe, where the cooperative Librotondo organized the Storytelling Festival “The city of tales.”
In Genoa, as part of the local actions of the project, the social cooperative Librotondo has collaborated with different local realities on the subject of the Storytelling in different social contexts.
In particular, have been held meetings on reading and storytelling with Ama Association: a group of citizens in Via della Maddalena, in the Old Town, which offers activities and initiatives for the redevelopment of the neighborhood.
Another local action of the project was held at the International Library for Children “E. De Amicis” in Genoa from November 2013 to February 2014: a course of training and methodological exchange for 15 people from different associations that use storytelling in their work: librarians, booksellers, volunteers, educators, teachers.
With this group, it was created a new tool for telling stories, which will be presented in Genoa on March 7th. The European partners will visit the International Library for Children “E. De Amicis” and work with the people who attended the course, during a day of stories and experiences, entirely dedicated to methodologies for storytelling in different social contexts (hospitals, schools, prisons, libraries and other public spaces).
The activity program in Genoa, will also be full of activities, discovering places, flavors, stories and experiences: the exhibition Dialogue in the Dark, which takes place entirely in total darkness with a blind guide, the interactive exhibition dedicated to Italian emigration and immigration in the world at the Museum of Sea and Navigation; a visit to an old chocolate factory founded in 1866, which preserves the original furnishings and equipment, the gastronomic-themed evening held at La Taverna di Colombo: a small typical and fine restaurant; visiting Camogli, an ancient fishing village and the medieval abbey of St. Fruttuoso with the history of the area and the legends of Liguria; the meeting with the citizens’ association “Ama”: they will present the project of a place for the exchange of books and tales, showing their work for the redevelopment of the neighborhood which, for years, has paid in terms of decay and abandonment.
On the final night, which will be held in the Palazzo Ducale, one of the most beautiful monuments in Genoa, the ancient seat of government in the thirteenth century, the project will end with a concert, entirely dedicated to the guests, of the musical group “Rebis”: the duo from Genoa formed by Alessandra Ravizza and Andrea Megliola, will talk about stories in music and will present some excerpts from the debut CD “Shipwrecked in the Desert”.
